Sergey Tarapov was born on 02.09.1954 in Kharkiv. He graduated from Kharkiv State University in 1976. Candidate of Sciences in Physical and Mathematical Sciences since 1987. Senior researcher since 1993. Doctor of Sciences in Physical and Mathematical Sciences since 1994. Professor since 2005. Corresponding member of NASU since 2015. Laureat of S.Ya. Braude Prize in 2014.
Having graduated from Kharkiv University, Sergey Tarapov worked at Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering (1976—1979). Since 1979 he works at O.Ya. Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics of NASU, being the Head of the Department of Radiospectroscopy since 2004.
Sergey Tarapov actively participates in work of international and Ukrainian scientific societies. He is a member of Ukrainian Physical Society and of international scientific societies OSA (Optical Society of America, the Scientific advisor of the Student division of OSA in Kharkiv), EuMA (The European Microwave Association), SPIE (Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers). He is a member of Scientific councils of NANU 'Radiophysics and UHF Electronics', 'Low Temperature Physics and Cryogenic Technics', 'Physics of Magnetic Phenomena'.
Sergey Tarapov is the author of more than 370 scientific works including three monographs, more than 170 scientific papers, more than 180 reports on international scientific conferences. Ten dissertations for obtaining Candidate degrees were defended under supervision of Sergey Tarapov.
Sergey Tarapov is a member of Specialized councils: D 64.052.04 in Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics D 64.157.01 in O.Ya. Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics of NASU.
Scientific interests: experimental physics of metamaterials and magnetic composite nanostructures, magnetic radiospectroscopy, low temperature physics, magnetism, solid state physics, oscillation physics, electromagnetic sensors.
